Just as you would in a business, it is helpful to your nonprofit staff for them to establish attainable, measurable goals each year. I have my staff limit goals to their top 5. These goals are directly related to achieving our annual budget and forecast.

I find goal setting really empowers my staff as they take ownership of their goals and strive to meet them.

What does SMART stand for:

S is for Specific 

M is for Measurable 

A is for Attainable 

R is for Relevant 

T is for Timely
